Mercari Shopping: Marketplace for Buying & Selling

If you’ve been looking for a legit selling site where you can offload your old stuff or get used and new goods that have great quality and low prices, Mercari is one of those apps I’d quickly recommend. You can get virtually anything that people are willing to sell on this app, from electronics, sporting goods to clothes, games, and much more. The app also quickens the shipping process, with printable selling labels sent directly to the seller.

Features

Mercari has regular features for a typical e-commerce website. The process of selling your item is as follows:

• Take a picture or pictures of the item that you want to sell. You can do this directly through the Mercari camera.
• Briefly describe your item and make sure to give an accurate presentation of what you are selling.
• Post the item and wait for a confirmation of the listing.
• The buyer shows interest and orders your product, making a payment directly to Mercari. The product is then shipped.
• Once shipped, a printable shipping label is delivered to the seller.

Mercari charges a 10% fee on the sale amount levied on completion of the transaction. Mercari also protects buyers and sellers by taking on a direct guarantee of the process. The buyer pays cash upfront to Mercari, and they forward the payment minus the commission to the seller.

Usability

The app has a very intuitive UI and the entire buy and sells process is quite seamless. I liked the fact that Mercari provides a printable shipping label which is evidence of the transaction. The only challenge with the app is the extended wait time for sellers to receive funds. The section for funds transfer is also not entirely clear on the UI. A noted concern is raised by customers selling items to specific countries where they need to pay the shipping fee, and Mercari doesn’t deliver to those countries thus requiring a reversal.

Mercari requires iOS 10.0 or later (compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch) and at least Android 5.0.
